King of Prussia, PA — 06/19/2008
The CSL Behring Foundation for Research and Advancement of Patient Health today announced it is now accepting grant applications for programs designed to benefit the bleeding disorders community in the United States. At regular intervals throughout the year, the Foundation awards grants to qualifying organizations as a means of supporting clinical research and community-based patient programs.
Applications are available on-line. The deadline to apply is July 31st, 2008. Grant requests should be submitted to Garrett E. Bergman, MD, Executive Director of the CSL Behring Foundation. Downloadable guidelines, forms and contact information can be found on www.cslbehringfoundation.com.
Governed by an independent advisory council, the CSL Behring Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated exclusively to supporting charitable, scientific and educational initiatives that advance the standard of care for persons affected by bleeding disorders, such as hemophilia and von Willebrand Disease. Since its inception in 2001, the CSL Behring Foundation has awarded nearly $6 million dollars in grants to the bleeding disorders community.
"The CSL Behring Foundation's mission is to support innovative approaches to education, care and support for patients living every day with bleeding disorders, and to support promising research efforts expanding our understanding of these diseases," said Dr. Bergman. "We are committed to continuing partnerships to improve the quality of life for affected patients."
Recent CSL Behring Foundation award recipients include Massachusetts General Hospital, which received approval to conduct a study on The Role of Physiologic Blood Flow in the Accurate Diagnosis and Characterization of von Willebrand disease and Hemophilia Association of the Capital Area (HACA) which received funding to support their Men’s Retreat. The program will allow men with hemophilia in the Fairfax area, who may also be affected with hepatitis C or HIV, meet with others in their situation to discuss financial planning and health issues.
The CSL Behring Foundation will announce the winners of the current round of grant recipients in October 2008.
