Guidelines for Applying for A Small, Community-Based Organization Grant

The Aventis Behring Foundation for Research and Advancement of Patient Health is delighted to announce a new type of grant designed to assist small, community-based organizations in delivering their many valuable services to the communities they serve.

The Aventis Behring Foundation will now offer five $10,000 unrestricted grants per year.

In order to qualify, the small, community-based organizations should meet the following criteria:

  • Be a recognized organization for persons with bleeding disorders Have an annual operating budget of less than $100,000
  • Have two or less paid staff
  • Have obtained 501(c)(3) tax status
  • Have not previously received support from the Aventis Behring Foundation
How to Apply
To apply, submit a brief statement of how the funds would be used. The proposed use of the funds could be as simple as helping to fund ongoing operations, securing or upgrading office equipment, or seed money for starting a new program.

Applications will only be judged on appropriateness of the proposed usage and not ranked against other applications in this category.

If more than five applications are received and deemed eligible, lots would be drawn to select winners.

Criteria for Fellowship Training Grants

  1. Fellowship training should be specifically in the area of coagulation disorders and include a portion of time in the clinical management of these patients.
  2. This funding is intended for fellows who have completed their year of general clinical training in medical hematology, pediatric hematology/oncology, or other medical subspecialty.
  3. Funding for training may be requested for up to 2 years.
  4. Funding will be provided for training only and not for associated specific projects the fellow will be working upon. If funding is required for a specific project, please submit a separate grant, detailing the project. Please note trainee salary can be incorporated into the budget of this proposal.
  5. Salary funding should be according to level of training i.e. PGY 7/8, not at the level of practicing attending physician.
  6. Options exist for part-time funding requests.
  7. No overhead charge is to be applied to fellowship salary funding.
